In the case of the 11-year-old girl, who was found raped and murdered with 86 injuries in Surat on April 6, the police have arrested main accused. The girl was allegedly tortured for eight days. A few days later, the decomposing body of a woman was found. DNA test results are still awaited to confirm the relationship between the two victims. The Surat police have started probing the probability of human trafficking and relevant sections of the IPC have been added, reported The Indian Express.

The police said that the main accused, Harsh Gujjar, was arrested from Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan on Friday had confessed to killing the mother-daughter duo. He has been sent to police remand till May 3.

Human Trafficking

The police are still on the lookout for two other suspects Mukesh Gujjar and Kuldeep Gujjar. They think these two people know the real identity of the deceased. Police reports also claim Harsh bought mother and daughter from Mukesh and Kuldeep for Rs 35,000.

Surat Police Commissioner Satish Sharma on Sunday said that they have identified another accused. “We have identified other accused who were involved in the murder of both mother and daughter along with Harsh Gujjar. Our police teams are there in different districts in Rajasthan to catch the other accused,” he said.

According to the Surat police, during the investigation, they got to know that the woman and her daughter was staying in a rented house and they were financially supported by Kuldeep Gujjar in Sawai. When Kuldeep’s wife got to know about the “illicit affair”, she warned him and asked him to put an end to the relationship. Kuldeep asked Mukesh for a solution and he got in touch with his friend, Harsh. That is when he got in touch with Harsh and sold them to him for Rs 35,000.

The woman and her daughter were brought to Surat and kept in a rented house. He let the mother work in construction sites and also developed an illicit relationship with her. Harsh’s wife came to know about the situation and asked him to break it off. Tired of his wife’s quarrel, he killed them both and disposed of the body in Pandesara.

“The deceased minor girl had seen the murder of her mother… After the murder of her mother, Harsh took the girl to his house and made false stories about the girl’s parents and told her that she would stay there in the house for few days… The minor girl was not under control of Harsh and his wife, even after their physical torture. Finally, Harsh decided to eliminate her also,” Sharma said.

Background

The post-mortem report of the minor girl says the body had 86 injury marks including some on her private parts. Surat city police commissioner Satish Sharma informed during a press conference that the police found the body from a cricket ground in Bhestan area in Surat city on April 6, after being informed by some passerby. An FIR was registered against the

The report said that she had been strangulated. “Going by the nature of injuries, they seem to have been caused over a period ranging from one week to a day prior to the recovery of the body, suggesting that the girl, who is between nine to 11 years of age, might have been held captive, tortured and possibly raped,” Ganesh Govekar, a doctor at the City Civil Hospital where the autopsy was conducted told PTI.
