On February 6, a 17-year-old girl was attacked and stabbed multiple times by a stalker in Hyderabad. The incident took place in broad daylight. The girl, who lost a lot of blood is right now battling for her life at the Yashoda Hospital at Malakpet, Hyderabad. The accused proposed to the girl multiple times, and the girl refused and he has been stalking the minor for quite some time. The youth has been arrested and FIR has been registered against the accused under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 354D (stalking), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and the Arms Act.
Minor was being stalked from a long time
The victim was walking to her college when 19-year-old C Bharath stabbed her multiple times with a sickle and she has suffered multiple injuries on her skull, neck, abdomen and hand. He then dragged her to a small lane where he continued to assault her, as reported by The News Minute.
As per the victimâs family members, Bharath had been stalking the girl from quite some time. Reportedly, he was even counselled and warned of serious action by Hyderabad Policeâs SHE Team after an informal complaint from the girlâs family was lodged against him. Despite this, the accused continued to stalk and harass her. In fact, as reported by The Indian Express, the girl had even informed her family that the accused hung out near her college. One time, her father has also scolded him when he was caught outside her college.

This brazen attack calls for attention not just from the authority but also common people, who turn a blind eye towards such incidents. What is the use of economic development if women and girls cannot step out of their houses, without being scared for their lives.
