'What I Did Was Right, No Regret,' Shambu Lal Regar Says In Video Recorded From Jail, Abusing Muslims
Shambhulal Regar, who brutally murdered a Muslim man and made a video of the entire incident and uploaded it on social media, has made another video, now reportedly from inside the Jodhpur Central Jail.
In December, Shambhulal was arrested for murdering and burning the body of a Muslim migrant labourer from West Bengal, under the pretext of ‘Love Jihad’. The entire video was filmed and circulated on social media through WhatsApp and Facebook. Following this, he was arrested and lodged in prison.
In the new video, he can be seen inside what looks like the prison. It appears that the murderer is reading from a note. He says that he does not regret what he had done as he did so to protect Hinduism.
He further goes on to describe how another inmate was lodged in the same cell as him and he also apparently was being very vocal about his “anti-Islam” thoughts. He was trying to get close to Shambhu, was felt something wrong with the man.
Shambhu further says that one day he checked his inmate’s “private part” while bathing and saw that the man was circumcised, which made him realise that the inmate was not a Brahmin. Shambhu further goes on to call him a ‘Jihadi’ and also says that the person has plans to kill him.
He then adds if that person is ready to give his life for his own religion “Islam” then, Shambhu too is ready to give his life up for his own religion. He then goes own narrating how he knows the “thought process of Jihadi Bangladeshis” and how he is concerned that these “Jihadis” ruin the lives of other people.
Law’s a joke?
The concern is how did Shambhulal get hold of a mobile phone inside the Jodhpur Central Jail? So far, say the police, no phone or any device has been found after conducting a “thorough search”. Regar has told the police it wasn’t his phone. He has not revealed whose it is either.
Sources say only 2G jammers work at the jail complex, which also houses rape-accused spiritual leader Asaram Bapu, according to NDTV.
In the video, it can clearly be understood that Shambhu was reading from a script. Whether he is the one who wrote the lines or not is not clear but investigations are ongoing, the police assured.
