Four people Mohammad Mushtaq, Anushka, Naveen and Poonam, were arrested from Gurugram Sector 14 in connection with a fake degree racket which was busted on 1 March.

Poonam and Anushka were working for Naveen and Mushtaq. The women were drawing a salary of Rs 10,000 – Rs 15,000 per month. The gang posed as educational consultants and issued fake degrees, diplomas or marks sheets. They have issued around 700 fake documents in the past one and a half year.

They were running their office, Ambition Institute in Sector 14 in Gurugram. They would offer a range of degrees for a fee ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 5 lakh.

One laptop, over 150 blank degree certificates and six fake rubber stamps were confiscated. They were produced in a city court on Thursday. While the two women were released on bail, the others were sent to nine-day police remand.

The raid was conducted by a police officer who received a tip-off about the fake degree institute. After interrogation, the accused confessed to their crimes.

The Logical Indian requests people not to fall into the trap of these institutes and pursue their studies from colleges with authentic affiliation.
