Victim Hangs Herself After Medical Reports Deny Gang Rape, Family Alleges Foul Play

In yet another horrifying incident, a minor, after being gang-raped, committed suicide in her house in Badaun district, in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the reports from News18, the medical report post-rape did not confirm it to be a gang-rape case due to which she decided to take this extreme step to end her life. The girl was found hanging from a ceiling in her house on the night of August 22, immediately after which the body was sent for post-mortem. The report is still awaited.

Family alleges foul play

Meanwhile, the victim’s family stated that they are under pressure to withdraw this case. “The families of the accused warned us to withdraw the case or face dire consequences,” the victim’s brother told Daily Pioneer.

As per the reports from New Indian Express, her family had said that the 14-year minor stepped out of her house to take a walk and relieve herself in the open when few men kidnapped her and were taken to nearby school premises where she was raped multiple times.

What Does Police Say?

However, the SSP dismissed the allegations of rape made by the victim and said that her medical report does not confirm that she was gang raped. Nevertheless, he added that the two were known to each other and had spoken 122 times over phone in a past couple of days, The Daily Pioneer reported.

“Post-mortem examination will be conducted by a panel of three doctors to ascertain if it was a case of suicide. We will look into the matter from all angles,” Badaun SSP Ashok Kumar said.

The Senior Superintendent of Police has also confirmed that the victim’s family’s complaints had earlier lodged FIR. Based on the FIR, the main accused, who is identified as Lavkush, is also been arrested, he added

On the contrary, the victim’s family has accused police officials as foul play and that they are trying to safeguard the culprits by saying “they are shielding the culprits,” News18 reported.
