Pakistan on March 28, Thursday, said that after examining 22 “pin locations” shared by India, it found no terror camps. As it shared the “preliminary findings” with New Delhi, Pakistan further claimed that there is no link to nail 54 people who have been detained in connection with the terror attack in Pulwama.

The foreign office’s statement

The foreign office (FO) said in a statement that Pakistan is willing to allow visits in these locations on request. “While 54 detained individuals are being investigated, no details linking them to Pulwama have been found so far,” it said.

The statement further said that on Wednesday, March 27, Pakistan shared with India “preliminary findings” of its investigations, along with a set of questions.

“Subsequently, the diplomatic corps in Islamabad was briefed as well,” the FO said.

On February 27, the dossier was handed over by India to the acting high commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi. It specified details of Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)’s involvement in the Pulwama terror attack. It also talked about the presence of JeM terror camps and its leadership in Pakistan.

Soon after receiving the dossier, the FO said that an investigation team has been constituted by Pakistan, a number of people have been detained for investigation, and work has been initiated on the technical aspects of social media content, which is a main basis for the Indian documents.

It said that out of the 91 pages and six parts that the dossier contains, only part two and three pertain to the Pulwama terror attack. Other parts, it said, are just generalised allegations, and Pakistan is only focussing on parts that are related to the Pulwama attack.

According to the FO’s claims, all aspects of the information that India had provided were thoroughly examined during the course of investigations, including suicide bomber Adil Dar’s “confessional” video, “claim” of responsibility for the attack, Telegram and WhatsApp numbers that were used for sharing messages and videos in support of the Pulwama attack, list of 90 people who were suspected to belong to to a proscribed organisation, and 22 pin locations of alleged training camps.

It said that they have requested service providers for data which includes details of activities and contacts of the GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) number that India provided.

The US government has been requested for assistance from WhatsApp, because the said additional information and documents from India will help continue the investigation process.

“Pakistan remains committed to taking this process to its logical conclusion,” the FO added.

Tensions between India and Pakistan reached its peak when 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in the Pulwama terror attack in Pakistan. A few days later, Indian fighter jets struck at terrorist targets in Pakistan, destroying Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps. Following this incident, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistani Army, and released days later.
