New details have emerged in the brutal gang-rape of the 26-year-old Hyderabad vet, from the remand report. It mentions that a 27-year-old Lingaram Praveen Goud, a worker at the petrol pump from where the accused went to buy petrol, helped the police crack the details of the case.

Soon after the news about the rape was telecasted on Television Channels, Praveen dialled emergency 100 and said that he could help with identifying the accused. He informed the police that two of the accused came on a red scooter and asked for petrol in the plastic bottles. He immediately turned them down as he felt suspicious about it.

This testimony from Praveen helped the police arrange all the events, crack the case and reach the accused.

The remand report also read that the accused, Jollu Shiva took the scooter from the victim, on the pretext of repairing the flat tyre. While he was away repairing the tyre, the other accused pulled her into the bushes and raped her. When the victim started to shout, they forcibly gave her alcohol.

After returning, Jollu Shiva also raped the victim. “By the time Shiva returned to the spot after filling the air in the tyre, she was already dead due to asphyxiation as they forcefully closed her mouth and nose. However, he went ahead and assaulted her body,” The Hindu quoted a senior officer.

The victim was then wrapped in a blanket and transported to an underpass of Shadnagar Outer Ring Road where her body was burnt. The body was recovered the next day, on 29 November.
