After India Bans PSL, Pakistan Stops Broadcast Of IPL Across Nation

A month after India banned the live telecast of the fourth season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Pakistan hit back by not broadcasting Indian Super League (IPL) in the country, reported India Today. Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Ahmed Chaudry confirmed the ban on telecast of matches.

India’s official broadcaster of Pakistan Super League, DSports, pulled out from broadcasting the T20 championships after the dastardly Pulwama attack that claimed lives of more than 40 CRPF jawans on February 14. Pakistan based Jaish-E-Mohammed claimed responsibility of the attack.

Chaudhary to a Pakistan news channel said that during the PSL, the Indian companies and government treated Pakistan cricket in a demeaning way. He further said that after this incident they will not tolerate IPL in Pakistan, reported Hindustan Times.

Not to politicise cricket

Criticising Indian Cricket teams’ act of wearing army caps against Australia, the minister said they tried to keep politics and cricket apart. He further stressed on the point that no actions were taken against the Indian Cricket Team for their act. Shockingly, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) moved to International Cricket Council (ICC) to seek a definite action against Indian Cricket Team.

Chaudhry, moreover claimed that IPL not getting broadcasted in Pakistan is a loss for Indian cricket. He further declared that Pakistan is a superpower in international cricket. This year the country will host the twelfth edition of IPL. The tournament will kickstart from March 23 with a mouthwatering fixture – Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challenger Bangalore.

No worldcup match against Pakistan?

Recently, several members from the Indian cricket fraternity had asked the country to boycott in the upcoming 2019 World Cup match against Pakistan on June 16 in Manchester. Former Indian captain Gautam Gambhir too supported this motion by saying that jawans are more important than cricket. He also said that team India should be mentally prepared to give up its Worldcup tie against Pakistan. However, cricket genius Sachin Tendulkar said that the team should not giveaway two points to the rivals without playing against them.
