Pension for the specially abled has been made online across Uttar Pradesh, according to officials. Regarding this new rule, instructions have been issued to district officials by Mahesh Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Handicap Welfare).

47,000 specially abled people identified

As reported by Business Standard, the state government has also issued instructions to officials to make sure that there is no harassment in the name of physical verification.

Reportedly, for the pension, officials have identified over 47,000 specially abled people in November and by next week, the first installment will be transferred to their bank accounts.

Details found on the Revenue Department website

Earlier, people below the poverty line got a pension of Rs 300 per month, which was later increased to Rs 500. In 2018, the budget for this pension was enhanced from Rs 3. 33 billion to Rs 5. 75 billion by the state government.

Upon receiving complaints that the pension beneficiaries find it hard to provide disability certificate, it has been claimed by the state government that these details could be found on the Revenue Department website. All these details are certified by the state’s Health Department.

However, this pension will be available only for those who suffer from 40 per cent or more disability.
