This is one of the instances where citizens who are cynical of the police system will have to appreciate them for showing promptness to nab a criminal.

On Wednesday evening, a 29-year-old woman who works at an IT firm in Bangalore was returning home from her job. She was traveling in a silk board-bound BMTC Volvo bus when someone allegedly groped her from behind.

Sitting in the bus, she turned to the Bengaluru police’s recently launched mobile app and lodged a complaint with the Bellandur police station. She got the number of the concerned police officer using ‘’Know Your Police Station’’ mobile application.

After the complaint, ‘Pink’ Hoysala sent a vehicle which intercepted the bus and arrested the accused. An FIR has been registered and a case was filed against the accused under Section 354 of IPC. The accused is a 47-year-old man who works at a tech company in Whitefield. He was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Thursday, four days after the complaint.

Pink Hoysala is a recently launched special patrol team of the Bangalore City Police for ensuring the safety of women and children. There are 51 Pink Hoysala patrolling vehicles currently plying in Bengaluru.

The Logical Indian appreciates Bengaluru City Police for such an initiative and we commend the woman for showing promptness.
