An ex-cop who once fought criminals has now taken a stand for the welfare of children. Mr. Anil Vaidya of Madhya Pradesh has astonished the nation by donating half of his retirement money for the prosperity of the children of the Police. Such a selfless gesture has made not even the police department but the whole country proud. He who joined the police department as a sub inspector in Narsinghpur retired on November 30 from the post of City Superintendent of Police (CSP) in Jabalpur.

Madhya Pradesh Police who has failed to win hearts in the state is thankful to the ex-policeman for a boost in their reputation. The police officials said that Anil Vaidya is the first police officer to make such an announcement in the state. This announcement of donating a huge amount of 27 lacs was made at an event to felicitate the cop at the Police Lines in Jabalpur.

This announcement came at the time when the image of Police in MP is withering. In these circumstances, Vaidya has alienated himself from the muddy waters and bloomed like a Lotus doing remarkably wonderful job. After this act of self-abnegation,he has changed the dimensions of MP Police.
Instead of saving the money for his post retirement life, he decided to donate half of his Provident fund and gratuity to the police children for their well-being. None of the materialistic temptations deterred him from fulfilling his social responsibility. It’s very good to see that a cop who once nabbed criminals, killed terrorists and taught lessons to the offenders is now fighting against the odds of the system.

The cop expressed his gratitude to work with ATS chief Hemant Karkare in Maharashtrafor two years. Hemant was martyred in Mumbai Attacks of 2008.

Vaidya has served 36 years in MP Police at various locations across almost half of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore,Chhindwara, and the naxal affected Balaghat and Seoni. He also served in state’s Anti-Terrorist Squad and has the credit of the encounter of two dangerous criminals in Gwalior.

Vaidya has another feather in his crown for filing the early charge sheet for rape case against a Garment merchant who raped his wife in front of a Tantric in Jabalpurin 2013.

The police have a central welfare fund for which the amount has to be deposited in the SP office. Appreciating the good deeds of the policeman, the Jabalpur Superintendent of Police Dr. Ashish said “Vaidya can deposit the money directly in the central welfare fund. For the local welfare fund one has to take permission from Police Headquarters”.

We heartily congratulate Anil Vaidya for his good deeds and wish that this initiative taken will drive other cops and public servants too. This will enhance the social responsibility of the state towards children and will embolden Police’s hold over the region.
