Now, you will have to shell out more to buy a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder. From November, both subsidised and a non-subsidised cylinder is going to cost more – the rate of the non-subsidised cylinder has been increased by Rs 60 and subsidised by Rs 2.94. This is the sixth hike since June 2018.
Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest fuel retailer, said the rise in prices is “due to change in international price and foreign exchange fluctuations”, adding that the rise in prices of the subsidised cylinder is due to the impact of GST
The new price for a subsidised cylinder in Delhi is Rs 505.34, while that of a non-subsidised cylinder is Rs 939. Besides the capital, the new prices for subsidised LPG are Rs 508.70 in Kolkata, Rs 503.11 in Mumbai and Rs 493.87 in Chennai. Similarly, the new rates for non-subsidised LPG cylinders are Rs 969.50 in Kolkata, Rs 912.00 in Mumbai and Rs 958 in Chennai respectively.
In a year, a family who hasn’t given up their subsidy can avail 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilograms each at a subsidised rate. The subsidy is transferred directly to the consumer’s account. The oil corporation says that now the subsidy amount has been increased from Rs 376.60 to Rs 433.66 per cylinder.
