Kofi Annan Writes To CM Kejriwal, Applauds Delhi Government’s Health Initiatives

While the protest against the Lieutenant Governor by CM Arvind Kejriwal continues, he received a letter from Kofi Annan, Chairperson of ‘The Elders,’ mentioning the commendable job by the AAP government in the health sector.

In 2007, Nelson Mandela celebrated his 89th birthday with a new initiative called “Global Elders”, a group of “12 wise men and women” who aim to address global issues by offering expertise and guidance.

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to share the letter from Kofi Annan, who praised the Government’s health initiatives. He tweeted “very very proud moment for all Delhiites. It is this work that our opponents wish to stop.”

The letter reads, ”I wrote to you last year regarding the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the health reforms that your administration has implemented, including the provision of free primary healthcare services through your Mohalla Clinics programme. You kindly invited The Elders to study your reforms. A planning team from The Elders’ Secretariat will visit Delhi during the 2nd week of July…please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem.” Annan also said that a delegation from the UK is going to visit Delhi from 5-8th September later this year.

Kofi Annan also expressed his desire to visit Mohalla Clinics.
