Karnataka: Most Number Teacher Vacancy In Southern States, 9th In India

Karnataka has the most number of teacher vacancies in the secondary and higher secondary institution among all the south Indian states.

According to the latest Ministry of Human Resource and Development report, of the 65,064 sanctioned posts, 9,018 are vacant in Karanataka.

Other states on the list are Kerala with 4,091 vacancies against the sanctioned 34,701 posts and Tamil Nadu with 4,258 posts against the sanctioned 81,390 posts reported The Times Of India.

Telangana has 2,712 posts while Andhra Pradesh has 42 as against the sanctioned 28,488 and 3,412 posts respectively.

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) in Karnataka mentioned that the number of vacancies in secondary schools is 5,500 as opposed to 52,360, and in higher secondary school, 3,518 positions lay vacant against the total 12,704 posts.

The DPI blamed the discontinuation of recruitments for the past four years as the reason behind the vacancies. However, the process of recruitment has started now.

Karnataka education minister, Suresh Kumar, said that the recruitment will start soon after the assembly bypolls in the 15 constituencies scheduled for December 5 conclude.

Country-wise, Karnataka stands ninth whereas, with 33,908 vacancies Bihar ranks first on the list. Jammu & Kashmir stood second with 25,799 vacant seats. Maharashtra and Mizoram performed the best with zero vacancies.

The data was revealed by HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal in Lok Sabha in response to the queries of BJP MPs Bhola Singh, Sukanta Majumdar, and Raja Amareshwar Naik. The MPs asked to provide details of teachers’ vacancies in secondary and higher secondary schools.
