India's Peak Internet Speed Is The Slowest In Asia, South Korea Tops The Chart

India has only one way up

A ‘State Of Internet’ report has ranked India at 114th position with an average internet speed of 2.8 Mbps. Internet speeds are one of the parameters of development and also facilitates development across the world. India has just gone through a telecom boom in terms of the spread of mobile phones available, however, internet speed has been found wanting. Let us look at the importance of Internet speeds and the ranking of other countries.

South Korea leading by a big margin

In the same list South Korea tops the chart with an average internet speed of 26.7 Mbps, China ranks at 89 with an average speed of 4.1 Mbps, Srilanka ranks 78th with the average speed of 4.8 Mbps. It is not only the average speed but also the peak speed where Korea tops in Asia with 135.7 Mbps, while India is the slowest with 21.2 Mbps

Importance is obvious

The importance of high-speed internet is very obvious, from downloads to uploads, to registrations and bookings to running the office space, everything is dependent on the internet today and consequentially, faster internet speeds aids or accelerate developments. It is too early to judge India on the dismal internet speeds, given the fact that the telecom boom was only in the recent past.
The government should push the telecom operators, both state-controlled and private, to invest in infrastructure and technology that can help in Indians availing faster internet, which can accelerate the growth of the country itself.
