Very soon we can get to travel by comfortable railway coached that too made in India, and there is much more to offer by newly tested coaches. These are equipped with many useful features and facilities.

Trial run of the first model rake of ‘Make in India’ railway coaches was successfully conducted last week between Bhopal and Bina railway stations.

Coach Rehabilitation Workshop (CRWS) located in Nishaputra, Bhopal, designed coaches come with many features like Jerk-Less Berths, Bio Toilets and much more. The trial run was done with 24 coaches running at the speed of 120 km per hour. Indian Railways plans to launch these coaches for the running train soon.

Designing project for these coaches was assigned to West Central Railway (WCR) zone back in 2011 to have a comfortable interior.

The Indian Railway plans to manufacture 111 coaches including 87 non AC coaches, 17 coaches for AC 3 tier, five for AC 2 tier and one each for AC 1 tier and chair car coaches.

On approval of Railway Board on the basis of this trail run the coaches will be introduced in Rajdhani and other ISO certified trains first. Shatabdi can also get specially designed chair car coaches too.

Biggest challenge so for with railway is hygiene. So taking on system of direct discharge of human waste on railway tracks, Indian railways is also replacing toilets in coaches with environment-friendly bio-toilets.
