Football ranking rises
The Indian football team has climbed eleven places to be 152nd in the latest ranking by the world’s football governing body FIFA. They currently have 200 points. The improvement in rankings comes after the team successfully defeated Laos last month in two legs of the Asian Cup qualifier. After both the legs, India had an aggregate of (7-1) goals.

Global scenario
Although Copa-America dreams for Argentina ended in the finals against Chile, it bagged the top spot in the ranking. Argentina was followed by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile securing the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rankings respectively. Iran holds the highest FIFA ranking among the Asian countries (39). Whereas, India ranks 27th in Asia.

New coach, new aspirations
Since the arrival of coach Stephen Constantine, India had fared well in the FIFA rankings. In April last year, India had climbed to 147th position, the best in the recent times. But later it had fallen to 163rd position this year. The straight jump to 11 positions will give the team a morale boost. India had the best FIFA ranking of 94 during the year 1994.

The Logical Indian congratulates Indian Football Team for its rise in rankings, we wish they would continue to rise and sooner than later qualify for the coveted world cup.
