A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Saturday, November 3. Reportedly, she was admitted to the hospital’s ICU ward due to a poisonous snake bite, reported NDTV. The police have already arrested one person and are on the lookout for four others.

Although NDTV reports that she was the only person in ICU, Hindustan Times has reported that even though there were other people in the ICU, the perpetrators closed the curtains from all sides. The accused gave sedatives to the victim and blindfolded her before performing the cruel act.

When the victim’s relatives came to visit her the next day, she could not speak and tried informing about the incident in sign language. She explained and informed everyone about the incident when she was shifted to the general ward.

“A case has been registered and an investigation is underway,” senior police officer A Singh told news agency ANI. The police have seized the CCTV footage of the ICU. The girl reportedly told her grandmother that the men in uniform came to her at night and forcefully gave her an injection. When she refused they gagged her, tied up her hands and raped her.

Not the first instance

Two weeks ago, a ward boy and a medical student were arrested for raping a woman who was admitted to a hospital in UP’s Bagpat. The 17-year-old nursing student was raped when her sister, who was looking after her, went out for tea.

The accused hatched a plan and took the victim to the examination room under the false pretext of running some tests on her and then drugged and raped her.

The Logical Indian condemns the heinous crime and hopes that police catch all the culprits as soon as possible.
