UP: At Least 7 Teachers Suspended For Criticizing Govt After Pulwama Attack

Around seven government school teachers in Uttar Pradesh have been suspended of which two allegedly violated the Model Code of Conduct for criticising the ruling government on the Pulwama attack and the Balakot air strikes on social media, reported The Indian Express.

The suspension orders of all these seven teachers were passed as they violated service rules. These teachers relied on WhatsApp and Facebook to comment on the contentious topics. One of the suspended is a BSA (Basic Shiksha Adhikari), a Group-A education service. Dinesh Yadav, BSA of Muzaffarnagar was suspended on February 21 by the Special Secretary Anand Kumar Singh. He broached the Pulwama attack insinuating that conspiracy was behind it on a WhatsApp group of the Provincial Education Service.


Their suspension

Surendra Kumar, a primary school Headmaster of Barabanki was suspended by Barabanki BSA, VP Sing on February 27. He on a WhatsApp group questioned the attack “as a common citizen”.

According to the Indian Express report, Amrendra Kumar, a primary school assistant teacher in Sultanpur was suspended by the area’s BSA for praising Imran Khan on WhatsApp group. Another primary school assistant teacher was suspended as he on a Facebook post questioned the country’s “victory” after Balakot air strikes citing shooting down of an IAF jet and capture of a pilot.

Ravindra Kanojia from Rae Barelli further refuted the post and said someone else must have posted from his phone. Ravi Shankar Yadav, a headmaster in a primary school of Mirzapur got suspended for making derogatory remarks against the President of India. Nandji Yadav, a primary school assistant teacher of Azamgarh was suspended for commenting against the Prime Minister and UP CM. Nirankar Shukla, another primary headmaster Rae Bareli was suspended for writing a post on Modi. Rajesh Shukla, a primary assistant school teacher in Rae Bareli was suspended for blaming Narendra Modi behind the exit of RBI governor. As of now, the government has ordered an FIR against a private school teacher.
