UP: No Justice In Last Two Months, 14-Yr-Old Gangrape Victim Sits On Hunger Strike

A 14-year-old gang rape victim is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding justice in front of the collectorate office in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly. She is protesting against police inaction.

“It’s been two months since the incident, five men were involved in the crime but only two have been arrested as yet. My father and I are frequently called to the police station, but no more arrests have been made. Why are the other three not arrested till now?” she said, reports NDTV.

She is sitting on a strike asking for the arrest of the three other men. Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar said that they are investigating the case and the remaining accused will be arrested soon.

“She (victim) had registered a complaint with the police. After an investigation, we have arrested two people. We are still investigating some aspects of the case. Action will be taken as per law,” he said, as reported by NDTV.

The victim’s family wants justice to be delivered as soon as possible and perpetrators to be punished. The 14-year-old was gang-raped by five people two months ago. An official complaint was filed by the victim and her family.

The Logical Indian community lends support to the victim and hopes that justice is delivered soon.
