Ex-Rajasthan MLA Gurusharan Chhabra Dies After A Month-Long Hunger Strike

Gurusharan Chabbra, a former Janata Dal MLA & minister died after a month long protest demanding the setting up of Lokayukta & implementing total prohibition in state of Rajasthan. It is such a shameful development where a veteran politician was let to die for protesting on real people’s issues, issues for which a government is elected to address. It is disheartening to know an elected government neglected a protest for one month and visited him only in his death bed.

TLI requests all state government’s to take protest’s seriously, meet them, address their issues and re-assure them about steps that will be taken. Democracy is not about letting people protest and ignoring them on the contrast it is about letting people protest and address them. TLI pays its homage to Mr Gurusharan on his demise and we hope the Government could now at least take up the issue of prohibition and lokayukta seriously and implement it at the earliest. It will be only then perhaps we could wish him that he will Rest In Peace.
