The Delhi cabinet has cleared the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill and the passage of the bill is awaited in the Delhi Assembly. Even as the bill is awaited to become a law, just the cabinet clearance could perhaps mark this day as not only a historic day In post independent India but also a day which will set a new course for India. A fading dream of corruption free India was given new life through this decision.

From today you have a very good reason to hope that a Corruption free India is possible.

Some of the features of the bill includes

  • From the CM to Group 4 officers all come under the ambit of the Lokpal Bill. It is worthwhile noting that UPA had shown great hesitancy in including the PM in the ambit of the LOKPAL.

  • Legal right of protection to whistleblowers and witnesses.

  • Time bound investigation & trial in corruption cases. If beneficiary of offense is business entity, in addition to punishment provided under this law, those found guilty will have to pay fine 5 times the loss.

A Look Back

India Against Corruption was a historic movement, it raised awareness about Corruption besides many other things however it failed in making Lokpal a reality and going by the posts which many IAC activists had got, it failed in its intent too. A political voice masquerading as public anger.

Arvind Kejriwal picked IAC from the rubble and set out on a journey that has few parallels in World history and has reached the crescendo with the announcement of the cabinet clearance of LOKPAL Bill. The former IITian cum magsasay award winner along with many anti Corruption activists had to go through testing times and travails before LOKPAL could become real.

Corruption – Touching every life in India

It is not an exaggeration to say Corruption has affected every Indian one way or the other cutting across social and economic strata’s.

Corruption has not scared anyone

A corporate who has to bribe government officials and administration for favourable laws, policies and to circumvent laws for benefits and profits. The effect of corporate Corruption has been that it has ended up choking innovation besides becoming a breeding ground for crony capitalism. A common man ends up paying government officials for basic services he/she is entitled to. One can debate on the magnitude of effect of corruption across various sections of society yet everyone would agree on the fact that it has spared none.

Conclusion

The cabinet clearance is like a breath of fresh air Corruption infested system. We hope other states takes notice and initiate their own Anti Corruption campaign and laws to make India Corruption free sooner than later. We hope the good work started will continue and sustain itself until Corruption is rooted out.
