A Class-six student was beaten to death allegedly by the officials of a school in Imphal, the capital of Manipur as his parents failed to pay the fees in time.

The police have registered a case against the school officials for beating Suresh Tongbram to death. Now if the post-mortem report establishes unnatural death, then they will be arrested.

“Being a poor farmer, I have been unable to clear the school and hostel fees of Residential Kids Care School in Langol near Imphal where my son was admitted two years back. The school authorities told me to clear the fees or take my son away, but when I went to take him back they said unless the fees are cleared he could not be taken out,” Bira Tongbram, Suresh’s father told Northeast Today.

The school officials brought his Suresh home on Friday night with bruises all over his body. They told Suresh’s father that his son was punished for being disobedient.

Suresh couldn’t bear the pain and collapsed after reaching home. He died on Saturday. The body is now in the hospital for post-mortem. But his father has said he will not claim his son’s body till justice is meted. He claimed that his son died because of excessive torture. The school authorities are however mum over the incident.

The Logical Indian Community is saddened by what happened to the boy and hopes police pay attention to the case and help her parents to get justice.
