Ganesha Made Of 65-Kg Chocolate, This Man To Distribute It Among Underprivileged Kids After Immersing It In Milk

The festival season is upon us and with cheer and love, we have welcomed Lord Ganesha in our hearts and homes. With innumerable idols installed in individual houses and almost every locality, environmentalists have long raised concerns over the immersion of the idols which adds up to immense water pollution.

To counter this, a Punjab-based restaurateur has come up with a unique solution. He made a 65-kg chocolate Ganpati idol in Ludhiana. The pure Belgium chocolate idol would then be immersed in milk and the chocolate milkshake will be served to the underprivileged children in the nearby slums.

A message of eco-friendly festivities

The idol has been installed in a cafe in Ludhiana that specialises in Belgian chocolates. Harjinder Singh Kukreja, co-owner, Belfrance Bakers & Chocolatiers, has been preparing this chocolate Ganpati for three years now. According to The Indian Express, he has been doing this to spread the message of eco-friendly celebration and communal harmony.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Kukreja said, “There is nothing Hindu or Sikh about this festival. We all love Ganpati Bappa. He is the God of good beginnings and brings good luck. More than communal harmony, the idea is to give a message of eco-friendly celebrations. We will be immersing idol in milk and after symbolic visarjan, chocolate milkshake will be distributed among underprivileged children.”

He further said that it took 20 expert chefs to complete the idol in 10 days. He said that edible golden colour was used to give final touches to this chocolate sculpture. “Food wastage should be reduced in every way possible so we are making edible Ganpati since three years,” he added.

The Logical Indian is extremely happy as the chocolate Ganpati idol doesn’t harm the environment and underprivileged kids get chocolate milkshakes. Over the years, many people including celebrities have opted for an eco-friendly festival by making edible idols. Immersion of idols along with the old flowers and plastics pollute our water bodies. So, it is important to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
