Chhattisgarh: In Absence Of Bridge, Children Forced To Go To School By Boat

Chhattisgarh Baloda Bridge

The presence of a bridge could not be more imminent for the villagers of Chikhali, especially the children. The children are forced to cross the river, which separates Chikhali and Junwani, using dangerous boats just to go to school. This bridge has remained unfinished for a long period and no one has taken any initiative in order to aid the sufferings of these villagers.

Students find it excruciating and dangerous to use the boats, but because school is the main priority, they have no other option. They fear that the boat will turn over! Even teachers have to travel long distances just to reach the school; Teacher Kamla Nath Nishad stated that she has to travel over 20 kilometres just to get to work.

On the opposite side of the river situates the Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh. The villagers have urged the official and legislator numerous times to build the bridge. However, the authorities have constantly disregarded the claims and ignore the villagers’ concerns. According to the residents, the authorities have been “constructing the bridge” for years, yet no significant progress has been made.

The Logical Indian urges the officials of the Baloda Bazar District of Chhattisgarh to live up to their responsibilities as authority figures and to listen to the concerns of the villagers and to complete the construction of the bridge immediately.
