There are very few species on earth who would have created diseases which kill them. Human being is one of them. Scientists are of the opinion that cancer is purely man-made disease resulting from the excesses of modern life. Such an opinion has been formed after studying ancient remains.
A review of mummies, fossils, and classical literature has found that cancer tumors were rarely reported before the issues of pollution and poor diet became a major concern among people.
A visiting professor at Manchester University, Micheal Zimmerman, found that malignancies were virtually absent in mummies, that indicate factors causing cancer are limited to societies hit by modern civilization.
After conducting research on tissues from hundreds of mummies, only one case of cancer was confirmed. Even the study of thousands of Neanderthal bones has provided only one example of possible cancer, reported Daily Mail.
It was only in the 17th century, the first description of cancer operations was found. Scientific literature reveals, distinctive tumours like scrotal cancer occurred among chimney sweeps in 1775 and nasal cancer among snuff users in 1761.
According to Professor who presented the findings to Professor Mike Richards, the UK’s cancer tsar and other oncologists at a conference in 2010, Cancer bears the second highest cause of death in industrialized society after cardiovascular disease. Natural environment does not compose anything that can cause cancer. So it can be said cancer is a man-made disease.
Unlike the past era, cancer has become a very common disease today. In Uk, about one out of three people are found affected by this disease. Doctors say that following a healthy diet regime, doing regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight can prevent the risk of cancers.
The Logical Indian is of the opinion that we have to strike the balance between the lifestyles of our ancestors and what 21st century has to give. It is only through a balance life, we shall be healthy.
