Janardan Mishra, a BJP Parliamentarian from Rewa, Madhya-Pradesh, threatened an IAS officer and asserted that he would bury him alive if he sought bribes from the residents living in illegal colonies.

It was Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sajjit Yadav whom MP Mishra accused of taking bribes from people.

“Call me when Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sajjit Yadav comes to you and asks for money. I will come and dig a pit and bury him alive. In case, I will not be able to reach on time then you (people) all have to that. You all should keep a sharp spade and an axe.” the BJP MP said while addressing a gathering during an event.

Mishra also instigated the crowd to act against the IAS officer stating that he is ready to be held responsible if someone buries him alive on his behalf.

“Even if someone else buries him alive before my arrival, I will take the responsibility,” he said, adding that the country will recognise his name that “there is an MP who buried the Commissioner alive in Rewa,” added Mishra.

However, on Monday, Madhya Pradesh Minister PC Sharma called out Mishra over his alleged remark of burying the IAS officer alive. He said that it is the ‘culture and tradition’ of BJP to threaten officers.

“This is the tradition and culture of BJP to threaten officers…Sometimes a municipal officer is hit with the bat by BJP leader, an MLA’s son kills someone with a knife and an MP threatens to bury alive an IAS officer”, Sharma said.

He further stated that stringent legal action will be taken against those who try to take law in their hands.
