Bihar: 10 CRPF Commandos Killed In A Naxal Attack Near Aurangabad

10 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) commandos from the elite COBRA(Commando Battalion For Resolute Action) battalion were assassinated and five other were injured in a Naxal IED blast in the jungles of Chakarbanda-Dumri Kala in the district of Aurangabad, Bihar late night on Monday.

The paramilitary soldiers were killed in an encounter which started off when they were ambushed by the insurgents hiding near Dumri Kala. The fight started on Monday afternoon after a combing operation was announced on the information that some Naxalites have gathered near Madanpur. 8 soldiers died on spot while the other two succumbed to death on their way to hospital.

The CRPF unit belonged to 205th COBRA battalion which is deployed in the area to carry on jungle warfare-operations and anti naxal operations. The unit succeeded in killing 3 naxalites alongside and injuring half a dozen of them. The five injured jawans were airlifted to take them to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment. Moreover, some arms and ammunition like AK-47 rifles, INSAS rifles and an under barrel grenade launcher were also recovered from the site of encounter.

It is a specialized unit of CRPF trained in guerrilla tactics and jungle warfare established to tackle naxal operations. It is one of the most experienced and successful law enforcement units with the motto “Glory or Death”.
