Asaram Bapu Allegedly Caught With Illegal Assets Worth Rs 2,500 Crore

The Income Tax department in Surat has been able to disclose Rs 2,500 crore worth of unaccounted transactions of the self-proclaimed godman Asaram and his son Narayan Sai after they scanned 42 bags that were recovered last year in Ahmedabad.

The recovered bags contained property documents, CDs, CPUs, hard discs and other relevant materials relating to investments, bank deposits, shares and real estates.

Lawyer of the Asaram, Kalpesh Desai, also confirmed that IT had imposed a fine of Rs 750 crore on Asaram and his son.

Asaram had allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl at his ashram near Jodhpur in 2013, following which he was arrested. A Surat-based woman had accused him of raping her repeatedly between 1997 and 2006 during her stay at his ashram.

The Logical Indian appreciates IT department’s decision for imposing the fine. People like Asaram should pay the price for the number of crimes they have committed over years.
