Covered In Dust With Blood On His Face, A Boy Reminds The World About The War In Syria

Devastation due to violence
Syria continues to get devasted in violence and Aleppo bears the brunt of it. Amidst the violence, many images and videos came out which has taken people living on the internet by surprise. One image of a young boy rescued from a partially destroyed building in the aftermath of a devastating airstrike in Aleppo has become a symbol of the devastating situation in Syria. The image of a boy sitting on an orange chair inside an ambulance, covered in dust with blood on his face encapsulates the horrors inflicted on the war-ravaged city.

Systematically targetted
An hour after the rescue of the boy, the building completely collapsed. The boy has been identified as Omran, a five-year-old. Violence in Syria and the loss of lives has been devastating with a large number of women and children losing their lives. Adding to the woes, the doctors believe ambulances and hospitals are systematically targeted and hence code words are used to transfer patients from one hospital to the other.

Half a million lives lost
One research has estimated a loss of lives of close to 500,000 people. There are many more like Omran, whose plight hasn’t been reported yet. Omran’s image has made a similar impact and talking point as that of a Syrian boy found drowned and dead on the shores. The United Nations, meanwhile, are trying to secure a 48-hour pause to help the victims get medical attention.

The Logical Indian condemns violence in any form, anywhere in the world. The world community should come together to end the violence in Syria and elsewhere. It will be a failure of the global bodies such as United Nations to let such huge number of lives be lost.
