When all the state machinery failed to address the grave issue of farmer suicide, guess who came for their rescue?
It is Nana Patekar, one of the legendary actors of Bollywood. He is known for his humble lifestyle and simplicity and has been concerned towards social issues.

Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure have decided to help the families of the deceased farmers with some financial assistance. He has also been visiting these families to hand over the money himself. Patekar is also trying to start a conversation with the government to assist their cause as reported by IndiaToday

Nana Patekar spent his hard earned money on families of the farmers who have committed suicide. Few days ago, he provided financial assistance of Rs 15,000 each to the families of 62 farmers from Vidarbha region who have committed suicide. He has helped farmers earlier also in many ways, like donating lakhs of rupees for draught relief etc.

Nana has visited around 112 farmers widows in Marathwada region so far and now he plans to connect with 700 more in the areas of Nagpur, Latur, Hingoli, Parbani, Nanded, Aurangabad, Usmanabad, Jalna, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, etc.
He says if any farmer is thinking of suicide just reach him before taking the fatal step.
It is a great gesture from Nana Patekar a true star of Bollywood. We appreciate his efforts and concerns. This is what a conscious citizen should do, whether he is a star or not. May the society wakes up and save those who feed us.
