My Story: This Is How The Vendor In Train Cheated On The Passenger

“Travelling is a part and package of life. And if talk aboutTravellingavel, it is more fun and enjoyable. For the last 20 years, I have been travelling through train and thing have changed considerably from trains getting hours and hours to no delay. From filthy toilets without mugs to clean bio-toilets: we are moving in a positive direction. All the reforms from Swachh Bharat to security helplines are helping millions of travelers. But are we utilising all facilities given by the government or we tend to ignore by saying this is the way things are.

My travel from Goa to Pune on 30 January made me realise that there so many things we can do as a citizen.

We boarded the train at 3:50 from Madgao and the train was running on time. We bought some snacks and, after finishing eating them, in the end, we were left with some wrappers, teacups etc. Deciding not to throw the waste away, I went in the search of a garbage disposal. To my amazement, it was not present at its usual location i.e. below the washbasin. So I asked the staff member where I could throw the garbage and he adviced me to open the gate and throw it out. I did not do that, but this shows not only the staff but the other passengers did the same. We as educated citizens should understand that when we throw food on the tracks, animals gets attracted to it, which can be dangerous.

Later that evening, we wished to ordered food so asked for the menu (this train gave passengers a proper menu) but the staff was not able to produce it and asked me to go to the pantry and check the rate menu. After ordering a Veg Thali (Rs. 150), I went to the pantry to check the rate and, to my amazement, the chart there showed the price as Rs. 50. I asked them why they charged me Rs. 150 and he explained to me that it was the old rate and the new one was different. Then I asked for the new one, which took around five minutes for them to search and produce, and which was merely a piece of paper with no details about validity or period. So a question arises: Are aware of being duped by these people, and is the government agency aware of the same?

So I request everyone to be aware of what they are paying and what they get in return. Please share your experiences so that the government takes some action against such vendors.”
