My Story: We May Not Own House Or The Basic Things But We Have Immense Love For Each Other

“Our life was always filled with hurdles but we call it little gifts of God. Everything started with a smile. It was love at first sight for us. He was a construction worker and I was working at the same site. After a few meetings at work once while coming home, we had an eye contact. We had no idea why we both just could not help but smile at each other. It continued for a long time. I had to join another place to work so that’s how we spoke to each other and found out we live nearly. We parted our ways from there but he never missed a chance to come back home together. The funniest part is that we never spoke. We both were extremely shy to talk to each other. Our families knew each other and we decided to get married. We continued to work at construction site till I was expecting our first child, I was falling sick and was advised to rest for the eighth month of my pregnancy. He used to come home to see me during lunch breaks.

We were happy in our small world but after delivery and with less income, we had to struggle for the basics. He started working on triple shifts and got home more money.

I used to sell flowers later and take care of our kids while working. There were many ups and downs and due to our youngest child’s health issues, we had to save money for the medical treatment. We both worked hard and starved so we could feed our kids.

A few days back my husband was not well but he kept doing double shifts for our needs but he met with an accident and he had to stop working. Now I am doing his job but being a woman I am paid less, at the same time as I had left this job since long time – it has become quite difficult for me to work on the construction site. We struggle with the basic needs but our love for each other keeps us going.

I remember last year when my husband was unwell, We had days when he could not go to work and we simply starved. On those rainy days, we use to lean on each other. All we could manage was half of a vada pav. We may not own house or the basic things but we have immense love for each other. We love our small happy world and so we made our own little heaven where no materialistic things including the basics- shelter, food or money matters. All we hope is for his son recovery and a decent treatment so we can get back to our lives! We know the joy of sharing happiness, we all keep praying for the same.”
