“Trekking was innate, I guess. When my mom was pregnant with me, she used to go and teach in a school which required a good 2 hours of climbing a mountain in Kullu. I guess I felt that in her womb, the terrain, the hard work, the stamina she required every day and yet climbing day after day without any complaints. My father loved travelling as well.
Its in Pahadi’s I guess, we love to walk. I initially went out with my family when I was little. We went to nearby trekking places for picnics like Sreolsar lake, Prashar Rishi, Bijli Mahdev. Even our school picnics were sort of trekkings.
Working in a city made it even more clear that I missed mountains and that is the place where I always want to be. Whenever weekend arrived my idea of holidays always used to be on a mountain. So without a shadow of a doubt I decided to return and since then I try to trek every weekend. It is very difficult to convince parents that what you do is really what you love doing. But I think now they are used to the idea of me going out on every weekend.
I really don’t remember what my first trip was, but I do know that I cannot sit in one place. It makes me restless. I fall short of words when it comes to describe what being in wild means to me, its simply numinous. And I never miss a chance to go out and be closest to nature.
I haven’t seen all, but whatever I have, has been the best. Not any place has disappointed me. I have met some amazing people while traveling, I have heard their stories, and somewhere it has helped me become a better human being. So many lessons that we could never learn in life, are learnt when we are travelling. So I never let go any chance to coddiwomple.
Remember that: People, places, food will always be good!
