My Story: No One Was Helping Me To Seek Justice For The Rape Of A 5-Year-Old Girl

”You are never unheard and this time it was PAPON!”
No normal being can have a clear mind after being stuck by thoughts which gives him goosebumps, and so did happen when my friend reported to me about her 5-year-old cousin being attempted to Rape.

With a deep heart, the only resort that I thought was to write a grievance letter to the Prime Minister of India along with continuous Tweets to follow.

It gives me immense pain to write on this subject but most of the times when such a subject in this part of India (North-East) is seldom highlighted, the pain deepens. Yes, the subject is “Rape”. I wonder how such horrible incidents in Assam don’t even make it to the National newspapers; the national Mass Media being almost always far from reach.
Sometimes, it also makes me think how the rape cases i.e. the same crime differs with place i.e. how they are dealt in a totally different manner in the National Capital and other parts of the country by politicians, public, and even media and how they fail to bring in attention when it comes to NE India.

An attempt to rape, I mean a brutal Crime happened in Assam on September 3, 2016, but not many are aware of that.

A 5-year-old girl of Hojai Gaon which falls under the vigilance of Thelamara police station in the Sonitpur District of Assam, who is an acquaintance of mine was kidnapped and was attempted to rape, but no trace of the culprit was found by the police.

I feel ashamed to be born as a Man after getting to know of such incidents on a daily basis and even fear to have a daughter at the same time owing to all these heinous crimes against women.
I am not taking a back step here or sending out a wrong message.

What is the use of ‘Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao’ slogan if we cannot even ensure the safety of a girl child?

It is a shame to see how a Celeb’s post is being replied within a few minutes while the common man has to wait in line till infinity to register his complaint. Yes, I have been sending about hundreds of Tweets with a hope to get some attention and at the same time, my Grievance at the PMO on such a topic was not being attended. Even though my tweets or anything was not working out still I had a hope, I don’t want anything else but a small Help, that is JUSTICE for a little girl and many other girls like her.

As Hope is like a light in a cave of darkness, so was the thought of that little girl. I won’t stop at anything other than Justice so I thought to pour my hurt out on FaceBook.

‘Aim for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars.’

I won’t have believed this after I failed miserably at my Tweets to connect with the known personals for the past three days from my start.

But to be honest, who do listen to a common man?

But on the night of 11th September, I received a message.. the message was not a regular one that you receive every day.

It was sent by Angaraag PAPON Mahanta, the playback singer from Assam from the recently famed Bulleya(Sultan) and Kyon (Barfi) contacted me. He asked me many questions, when, how and told me to send every detail on his Mail ID. I did as he guided. After that he messaged me, he was quick to respond, so quick that he even had a conversation with the SP of Tezpur. I was reported that the culprit had been caught last night and is now taken into custody. He even ask me is there any help he could provide or any measures needed to be further taken? To which I only responded on bringing Justice for that Little girl and to make sure that the culprit is never out of bars.

So, there it is, I received what I wanted JUSTICE.

The lesson that I learn is that we should not lose hope while fighting for the Rights. As I always believe that pointing a Wrong is not Right but correcting a Wrong is Bravery.
He was the person who responded to me after 3 days of my failure trying to connect with people.

Guess, that was the only little HELP that I needed, I could have left wasting my time replying to every tweets and message but it was a small HOPE that kept me going, the little girl whom I had never met.
