“When animals express their feelings they pour out like water from a spout. Animal’s emotions are raw, unfiltered, and uncontrolled. Their joy is the purest and most contagious of joys and their grief the deepest and most devastating. Their passions bring us to our knees in delight and sorrow.
An evening, I went to Nagpur Veterinary Hospital with my partner. We wanted to adopt a stray puppy. There, my eyes noticed something what was not common at all. A baby monkey was kept in a cage with a teddy bear.
When we entered the hospital, I came to know from the staff that the doctors had named the baby monkey as ‘Omi’. My mind was still puzzled about the teddy bear placed in Omi’s cage. To my question, one of the staff members replied which left me moist-eyed.
The baby monkey ‘Omi’ had lost his mother in an accident. Near the accident spot, there was a seller who was walking with a big basket of soft toys on his head. Due to the sudden accident and screeching sound of the vehicle stopping by, the startled man lost control of his basket. One of the teddy bears from his basket fell right beside Omi’s mother. Omi, who was playing nearby, came running and picked up that teddy bear. In a state of sadness and shock, he started hugging and caressing the soft toy like he did with his mother.
Still, Omi plays with that teddy bear, probably it tries to find his own mother in it. Wherever he goes, he carries it with himself.
Animals can’t speak out their heart in words like humans, but they feel everything and they express it all. The loss of a dear one hurts animals and humans alike. The language of love and feelings is same for all. Life is beautiful till we feel, we express, we understand.”
