My Story: ‘One Thing Which Was Really Sad, Humans Don’t Take The Initiative To Help Another Human In Need’

“My friend and I boarded the Metro at Qutub Minar station and found a young man lying unconscious in our coach. Though lots of passengers were there, nobody bothered to help him as a foul smell came from him. We went close and saw he had vomited, was unconscious and it was clear that he had been on this train for quite long (because he didn’t board with us and the train was coming from Rajiv Chowk). We didn’t know what problem he had been in, but the first thing we decided was to report #DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation). There is a simple provision of mic to speak with the Metro controller near each gate, so I called the controller and informed him about this young man in our coach. He told me that he is sending the staff at the earliest. At the second station, DMRC staff came and took him out of Metro ~ we hope, he has got first Aid and he is alright now.

Since we were in hurry, we didn’t leave the train as I felt he was in safe hands.

Out of this entire incident, one thing which was really sad – humans don’t take the initiative to help another human in need. It would have hardly taken 2-3 minutes of someone’s time when most people were wandering to have good time.

Dear DMRC, I really appreciate your metro staff for their quick initiative on my informing them. But why did it happen at the very first place when the entire metro is under CCTV surveillance and gets regularly monitored; who would have held responsible if something worse had happened to that young guy?”
