My Story: I Was Passing By A Bridge And What I Saw Was Unbelievable

It was almost a year ago when I was working with an IT company at Pune. I was visiting my parents in Vadodara during the weekend. That was the time when I got a chance to meet these amazing women.

I was passing by a bridge and what I saw was unbelievable. There were few ladies teaching the children on street. The group of women were appearing to be from decent financial background and the children from a poor one. I was in a confused state of mind about them as I had not seen anything like that before.

So, to get rid of my curiosity, I went to them to talk about who were they and what was going on there. To my questions, one of the women replied, “We are Bengali housewives and we are teaching the children of vendors who are staying and running their business on the street.”

When I talked more to them, I realised that some of the women were teachers in a school and left their jobs to educate these children. Also, the joy of education was flowing through children.
It is an amazing initiative to change and empower the society. It’s still going on at 2 places in Vadodara, Gujarat.
