My Story: A Mere Facebook Comment Brought Me And A Pakistani Guy So Close To Each Other

“I met him, Farhan Aqeel, on the “The Logical Indian” page; impressed by his comment on a post, I sent him a friend request. And this is how we became friends. Even though we are from two different countries.

I am from Delhi, India and he is from Pakistan; his grandparents had to leave India during the partition. We started chatting, and knowing about both the countries. Slowly, our daily chat turned into a close friendship.

Our conversation was mostly about the beauty of our countries, cultures, and our heritage. We never ever thought of calling each other over the phone, as we were the citizen of “Enemy Country” (at least people are made to believe).

But we knew not every people living in these two countries want war; there are many others like us, who want peace in between India and Pakistan as their loved ones still are living there.

After a long plan and struggle, he got a VISA to visit India. He visited last month and finally he appeared before me, which was like a dream come true. We enjoyed our time together so much that those moments became one of the best and amazing experiences of our lives.

Now he is back to Pakistan, but our meeting made our friendship even stronger, and now I am sure that we will remain the same forever.

In our opinion, all this hatred is created by some of our politicians, terrorist outfits and sometimes our media, too, create conflicts between both the countries. We, the common people living in both the countries, just want peace and we understand that war or terrorism have never been a solution to any problem.

Terrorism is a curse to human dignity, it neither has nationality nor religion and both the countries suffer from it.”
