You all might have seen the black and yellow taxis in Mumbai either in movies or in real time. The taxi’s have come together to counter the e-commerce giants Uber and OLA.
The Mumbai Kaali Peeli taxi’s are reaching out to people through their app named 9211. This is at a time when OLA and UBER have made huge inroads in the same business.
How does it work?
It operates in the same way as a OLA/Uber App. It’s an instant cab service which charge on the approved government rates.
Using this app a person can check for the nearest taxi from his area and can book it right away.
The initial charges will be Rs 22 for 1.5 km as per the Government rules for transportation charges.
The app has been launched with cash payment mode and in the near future 9211 will have online payment also.
This App is integrated with safety systems for women like SOS button and GPS tracking system.
Will they sustain?
There is a good chance that they will given the fact that there are 35,000 kaali Peeli cabs whilst Uber and Ola have 14,000 registered to it.
Given the familiarity and popularity of the kaali Peeli cabs among the Mumbaikaars, 9211 app is on track to become a house old name in Mumbai. And we wish them good luck too.
