The Evolution Of Instagram: Analyzing Implications Of Upcoming Meta-Verified User Feeds

While the specifics of the feed's composition remain ambiguous, it is uncertain whether it will include profiles solely from Meta Verified users or extend to users with the coveted blue verification badge.

In a recent move, Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has commenced trials for a dedicated feed exclusively for users subscribed to Verified, the company’s premium subscription service for creators. This new feed, accessible through the same section that allows toggling between the Following and Favorites feeds, presents content solely from Meta Verified users.

While the specifics of the feed’s composition remain ambiguous, it is uncertain whether it will include profiles solely from Meta Verified users or extend to users with the coveted blue verification badge. Notably, Meta recently extended its paid verification option to brands, following an initial launch exclusive to creators.

Expressing the company’s perspective on this development, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri emphasized that Meta is actively exploring this feature as a new control mechanism for users and a means for businesses and creators to enhance their visibility.

This initiative by Meta appears to take inspiration from X, formerly known as Twitter, which introduced various features distinguishing verified and regular users. For instance, X integrated a new section in the notifications area dedicated exclusively to blue-check users. Additionally, the platform’s algorithm elevates posts from verified users, fostering higher engagement and providing incentives for users to subscribe.

By introducing a designated Meta Verified feed on Instagram, the company might be aiming to emulate a similar model. However, the utility for regular users to exclusively view content from brands and creators who invest in promoting their content remains a topic open to speculation.
