Following the lifting of the President’s rule last week, Congress leader Kalikho Pul has been sworn in as the 8th chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh. When he was just 13 months old he lost his mother, at six years he lost his father too. He went on to learn carpentry, sell furniture and worked as a casual night chowkidar for few hundred bucks per month, to attend a night school.
“I grew up in an aunt’s house, getting only one meal for picking firewood from the jungle. One day I ran away and joined a carpentry school, where they gave me a stipend of Rs 1.50 a day,” The Indian Express quoted.
