Major Dhyan Chand To Be Honoured With “Bharat Gaurav” Award in British Parliament

Former Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand will be conferred with the ‘Bharat Gaurav’ Lifetime Achievement Award by NRI organisation Sanskriti Yuva Sangstha at the House of Commons inside the British Parliament on this Saturday, July 25.

Ashok Chand, son of Major Dhyan Chand, will be receiving the award  on his behalf.

Dhyanchand is one of the greatest field hockey players of all time and has an impressive record of guiding India to win three successive gold medals in Olympics games and had scored over 400 goals in his international career.

In 2014, he was one of the nominees of Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award for 2014. The award was then given to Sachin Tendulkar.
