The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) officially declared the Class 12 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results today, May 2, 2026. This year, the state recorded an overall pass percentage of 89.79%, with over 12.83 lakh students successfully clearing the examination.

In a continuing trend, girls outperformed boys with a pass rate of 93.15% compared to 86.80%. The results, announced by Board Chairman Trigun Kulkarni during a press conference in Pune, are now available for students to access on official portals including hscresult.mkcl.org and mahresult.nic.in.

Academic Excellence and Regional Highlights

Of the students who appeared for the exams held between February and March, the Science stream emerged as the top performer with a stellar pass percentage of 96.44%. The Commerce stream followed at 87.03%, while Arts recorded 78.02%. Regionally, the Konkan division maintained its legacy of excellence, topping the state with a 94.14% pass rate. Conversely, the Latur division recorded the lowest pass percentage at 84.14%.

Board Chairman Trigun Kulkarni highlighted the academic rigour of the batch, noting that several subjects achieved a 100% pass rate. “The results reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teaching community across the state,” Kulkarni stated during the briefing.

Bridging the Gap and Looking Ahead

While the pass percentage saw a slight dip compared to last year, the performance of differently-abled students remained a bright spot, with over 90% clearing the exams. To reduce academic pressure and discourage unhealthy competition, the board has continued its policy of not releasing an official “Toppers List.”

For those who did not meet the 35% passing criteria, the board has announced that supplementary examinations will be conducted in the coming months, offering a second chance to pursue higher education without losing an academic year. Students can also apply for marks verification and revaluation starting tomorrow via the official board website.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

At The Logical Indian, we celebrate the resilience of these 12.83 lakh young minds who have crossed a significant milestone. While statistics often focus on “pass rates,” we believe it is essential to look beyond the numbers and recognise the individual effort each student has invested. We must also cultivate an environment where those who couldn’t clear the hurdle today feel supported rather than stigmatised.

Success is rarely a straight line, and a single mark sheet does not define one’s potential for kindness, empathy, or social contribution. As these students transition into adulthood, let us encourage them to pursue excellence not just in their careers, but in being compassionate citizens.
