Two sisters in Bhopal, identified as Amreen and Afreen, were arrested alongside an associate on February 24, 2026, after police uncovered an alleged sex racket disguised as job offers that purportedly included rape, forced religious conversion, blackmail and exploitation across several states.

The shocking case emerged after two women a 21-year-old beautician from Chhattisgarh and a 30-year-old domestic worker in Bhopal lodged near-identical complaints alleging they were lured, drugged and assaulted under the pretext of work.

From Promise of Jobs to Alleged Nightmare Exploitation

Police allege the operation began with promises of legitimate employment. According to the FIRs filed at Bag Sewania police station, the sisters targeted women from economically weaker backgrounds, offering them domestic work with a purported salary of around Rs 10,000 per month, along with food and accommodation.

But the victims’ accounts paint a vastly different picture. Both women said that upon joining, they were coaxed into socialising with wealthy men, taken to pubs and lounges, and allegedly pressured to consume alcohol and MD drugs. On several occasions, they claimed they were intoxicated without consent and assaulted.

One complainant, who worked as a beautician, alleges that she was given tea laced with a sedative by Amreen’s brother Bilal and raped while unconscious. She also alleged that in December 2025 she was taken to Ahmedabad under the guise of employment, where another associate, Yasir, allegedly raped her. On repeated occasions between August 2025 and January 2026, she claims she was assaulted by Chandan Yadav, the sisters’ close aide.

The second complainant, a domestic worker whom Amreen had persuaded to stay at her house, alleged that Chandan Yadav raped her inside a residence in Narayan Nagar. She told police the accused threatened to kill or defame her if she spoke out.

Serious Allegations of Forced Conversion and Blackmail

In addition to allegations of rape and sexual exploitation, both women have made disturbing claims of coercion into religious conversion. One victim said she was pressured to change her religion, made to wear a burqa and told to participate in religious acts that were not part of her upbringing, after being told by Chandan that he had converted and could arrange her marriage into a “good family” only if she followed suit.

Both victims also reported being photographed in compromising positions, and they allege the accused used these images to blackmail them whenever they tried to leave. In one complaint, the beautician said she was compelled to wear revealing clothing and introduced to influential men as part of the alleged scheme.

Police have registered cases under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to rape, criminal conspiracy, administering intoxicants to commit offences and under the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act for forced conversion.

Police Action, Investigation and Wider Network Under Scrutiny

On February 24, authorities arrested the two sisters and Chandan Yadav after the complaints. Police seized mobile phones and found multiple suspicious WhatsApp groups and photos that investigators believe could point to more victims.

Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed three arrests and said the hunt continues for other accused who remain at large, including Bilal, Yasir and Chanu. “As of now, three people have been held and the remaining will be arrested as soon as possible. The matter is still under investigation,” he told reporters.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Gautam Solanki told the media that the investigation is examining financial transactions, travel records and digital evidence to determine whether this was an isolated criminal operation or part of a wider interstate network. Authorities are also looking into reports the victims were taken to Mumbai and Gujarat under false pretences.

Local Reactions, Communal Tensions and Calls for Calm

News of the arrests has sparked reactions in Bhopal. Some local groups urged community awareness campaigns to protect women from exploitation. At the same time, police officials have appealed for calm, emphasising that the investigation remains active and that allegations are yet to be proven in court.

Neighbours of the accused reported that the sisters lived in a posh villa in the Sagar Royal Villas colony a sharp contrast to their earlier life in a slum in Abbas Nagar which raised suspicions about sudden prosperity. Residents said there were frequent late-night visitors, contributing to local unease even before the latest complaints.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

This harrowing case from central India underscores several critical societal issues: the vulnerability of economically disadvantaged women seeking employment, the potential for exploitation under the guise of opportunity, and the complex intersections of gendered violence and allegations of forced conversion.

While the police investigation and judicial process must be allowed to unfold impartially, the gravity of these accusations calls for focused protective measures for vulnerable individuals, stronger oversight of job placement channels, and a robust support system for survivors.

As media coverage has touched on sensitive themes including religion alongside serious criminal allegations, it is vital for the public discourse to remain rooted in facts, respect for due process, and empathy for survivors. Community safety, secular harmony and justice cannot be treated as mutually exclusive – they must advance together.
