Life Story: How It Feels To See Your Little Child Turning Blind, A Mother Shares Her Feelings

“My daughter began to turn blind when she was 10 and by the age of 15 she had no visibility. That period was the hardest in my life, because being a mother there was nothing worse for me.

I would keep crying and she would keep consoling me. Finally I decided that I had to become strong for her, so I began to accompany her to do whatever she wanted to do.

I don’t know how to explain this to you, but knowingly or unknowingly she gave me the life I am living today. I used to be boring, sitting at home all day…but she made me get out of my comfort zone and do things.

We’ve travelled all over, done adventure sports and even participated every year in the Blind Man Car Rally every single year! We cook together, hear movies together and make sure that every minute of ours is a minute worth living for.

Today she’s graduated and she continues to make me proud every single day. The other day she told me, ‘sorry mom, I’m putting you through so much…you have to be with me all the time.’ — and I just don’t know in which words to explain to her that whatever I am today is because of her. I’ve done so much and experienced life because of her. That I feel alive, because of her.”
