Breaking: Shahjahanpur Law Student Who Accused Chinmayanand Of Rape Detained For Extortion

The Shahjahanpur law student who accused Chinmayanand of rape has been detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on extortion charges.

The law student’s incarceration comes a day after she was denied an anticipatory bail by the Allahabad High Court in the case filed over the allegation that she had attempted to extort Chinmayanand.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had earlier booked three men for extorting Chinmayanand after questioning them in connection with a video clip in which they were apparently discussing the extortion. According to the SIT chief Naveen Arora, the three had accepted their involvement in the case although the law student had denied the charge.

The law student had gone missing on August 27, after accusing Chinmayanand of raping and assaulting her in a video that went viral.

She was traced by the Uttar Pradesh Police in Rajasthan, after which the BJP leader was arrested.

The law students’ brother and father were present when she was taken by the police earlier today, but the student’s lawyer told ThePrint that she had no information about her detention.

Last Friday, the SIT arrested three persons: Sanjay Singh, Sachin Senger and Vikram, for sending a text message to Chinmayanand to extort Rs 5 crore from him. The student was also a suspect in the case even though her name had been not included as an accused in the FIR.

“I do not know if the people who helped me escape from Chinmayanand were using me. I have nothing to do with the extortion case. I think all this drama is being done to dilute my charges of rape,” the law student had said.
