Uttar Pradesh: Not A Single Student Across 165 Schools Passed Board Exams

Uttar Pradesh is known for a lot of criminal activities which also includes scaling the parameter of innovative cheating ideas a notch higher. However, this year, the table has turned for the education sector, as more stringent actions were enforced to stop students from cheating in board exams.

As on April 27, the state board released the board result for both class 10 and 12, it was found that the pass percentage for class 12 was 70.26% and for class 10 it was 70.26%. However, it was revealed later that around 165 schools had registered zero results. Of these, 50 were government schools, 84 private schools and 5 government-aided schools in the high school category. In the intermediate category, there were 176 private schools, 15 government school and 58 government-aided schools.

What do zero results mean?

Zero results mean that none of the students from a registered school passed in the board exams. So according to the Hindustan Times report, all the students from 165 schools could not pass and around 388 schools registered below 20% result. Of these 388 schools, 249 schools found its place in the class 12 result’s list and 139 in the high school exam.

Indicating at the stringent “anti-copying measures” implemented during the Board exams, Vinay Kumar Pandey, director of UP board said that 165 schools failing to produce a single pass student is certainly not to take pride in, however, it is a clear indicator that this is a result of strict measures.

Which districts have earned the distinction of zero results?

In what was quite obvious, Kaushambi district, which is quite popular for cheating practices, had to suffer the most, as not a single class 10 cleared the board exam from 13 schools. Other districts which made into the list where not a single student passed the class 10 exams were Mirzapur – 6 schools, Ballia – 5 schools, Chitrakoot – 3 schools, Aligarh – 3 schools, Hardoi – 4 schools, Prayagraj – 7 schools, Azamgarh – 3 schools, Pratapgarh – 3 schools, Etah – 6 schools, and Shrawasti – 3. Two schools from Bahraich, Mau, Jaunpur, Shahjahanpur, Sonebhadra, Fatehpur, Kannauj. Apart from these, one school from every 12 districts have joined the zero results club.

In the case of class 12 board results, students from seven schools each from Aligarh and Mainpuri could not pass the exam. Other districts which saw the same trend were Pratapgarh – 5 schools, Azamgarh – 4 schools, Ghazipur – 5 schools. Three schools each in Gonda, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. Districts such as Kanpur, Dehat, Jalaun, Ballia, Bahraich, Jaunpur, Amethi, Kanpur, Hathras, and Etah each had two schools which contributed to the zero results.

The Logical Indian take

The Logical Indian appreciates Uttar Pradesh government and its education department for taking stringent measures to stop cheating at school and intermediate levels. At the same time, we request UP government to focus on improving education in the state.
