IT Employee Fired From Job For Sending Abusive And Threatening Messages To Women

Supported by

IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has sacked one of its employees for sending abusive and threatening messages to two women. The employee, Rahul Singh was working at TCS Kolkata.

An investigation was launched by TCS after screenshots of the messages were posted on Facebook and Twitter. As reported by News18, the accused has admitted to sending the messages. The TCS spokeswoman told The Logical Indian, “At TCS we have zero tolerance towards any act which goes against our core values. The employee  has been relieved with immediate effect.”

Reportedly, Singh sent messages filled with expletives to a 19-year-old woman from Assam. The woman had reportedly also filed a complaint with the Kolkata police. It is reported that the accused was enraged after he saw some of her posts which were critical of the government.

The man also sent abusive messages to another woman. The messages to this woman were not just directed to her, but the accused also threatened to kill her son and husband.

The Logical Indian take

It is a rather alarming trend wherein people are being sent vulgar messages and are being threatened for expressing their views. What is more dangerous is the fact that people issuing such threats are not criminals but people who we sit and work with, who appear to be seemingly normal.

It is, however, commendable on the part of these multinational companies who are taking such actions seriously. A few months back, an US-based company, Dimensions Development Ltd had sacked one of its employees for posting a hateful tweet against Kashmiri women. It sends out a strong message that each and every person is accountable for their acts and that they would not go scot-free if found guilty.
