Prime Minister while addressing people in Varanasi on Saturday launched a comprehensive management software called SAMPANN to ease pensioners of the telecom department. SAMPANN stands for System for Accounting and Management of Pension, which is aimed to disburse pensions timely, reported NDTV.
PM Modi appreciated the Union government for using technology to improve the living standard of senior citizens by easing off access to citizen-centric services. He said banking services in the country is growing with the support of India Post Payments Bank through post offices. He also said that a three lakh Common Service Centers is aiding to cater a stew of services digitally to people hailing from rural areas. He also mentioned that the increasing penetration of internet connection has helped connect over one lakh panchayats to each other through broadband connections.
Admiring Digital India campaign, he said that the campaign is not only helping the common man but also exhibiting transparency in the working of the government and removing corruption. Pointing the Government e-Marketplace or GeM, he added that this will help Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He mentioned that easy access of credit for the MSMEs will help in doing business. Talking about LNG (Liquefied natural gas), he said that the government is adhered to confer modern amenities and foster the industry through LNG in the eastern part of the country.
He also added that one of the benefits associated with the widespread use of LNG is the availability of cooking gas in thousand homes in Varanasi.
